Equipment sizing addresses capacity, not performance. HVAC systems also need to be designed for distribution efficiency, controllability, acoustics, maintenance access, and resilience under partial failure. Correctly sized equipment in a poorly designed distribution system delivers poor comfort, high energy consumption, and unpredictable room-to-room variation.
"Heat pumps are just like gas boilers — you just swap them in."
Heat pump systems require different system temperatures, larger radiators or underfloor heating, and careful design for efficiency. A straightforward swap often results in poor performance.
