Conducting ecological surveys — protected species, habitat mapping, and invasive species assessments
Environmental Scientists conduct field surveys, collect and analyse environmental data, produce Environmental Impact Assessments, and advise developers, government, and industry on compliance and harm reduction. The work spans contaminated land, ecological surveys, air and water quality monitoring, and biodiversity net gain calculation across diverse project types.

- Collecting soil, water, and air samples and overseeing laboratory analysis of results
- Writing Environmental Impact Assessment chapters for planning applications and consents

Why it matters
Without environmental assessment, developments damage protected habitats, pollute watercourses, and destroy species without recourse. Environmental Scientists provide the evidence that enforces legal protection and helps developers avoid costly compliance failures.
Early morning ecological surveys (dawn chorus, bat surveys), travel to remote sites, processing large datasets from field equipment, and interpreting environmental legislation for clients who want simple answers to complex legal obligations.
