Survey platforms

Ask a question at scale, and actually get structured answers back

What it is

About Survey platforms

Survey platforms (such as Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, Typeform and Microsoft Forms) let researchers and change managers build structured questionnaires with logic branching, distribute them via link/email/embed and analyse responses through built-in dashboards or export to statistical software. They're used across change management (measuring readiness/sentiment), user research and general data interpretation work wherever quantitative or qualitative feedback needs to be gathered systematically.

What you can do with it

Capabilities

1

Design surveys with skip logic, branching and varied question types

2

Distribute surveys via email, link, QR code or embedded web form

3

Analyse response data with built-in charts and cross-tabulation

4

Export raw data to Excel/SPSS/R for deeper statistical analysis

5

Track sentiment or readiness over time with repeated pulse surveys

How to learn it

Learning Resources

Platform-specific help centres (Qualtrics XM Basecamp is a genuinely strong free training resource)

SurveyMonkey/Typeform's own template galleries and best-practice guides

Research methods courses covering questionnaire design and survey bias

Practise by designing and running a short pulse survey amongst colleagues or a personal network

Pro Tip

Pilot the survey on 3–5 people before full distribution — question wording that seems clear to the author is a leading cause of unusable or biased survey data, and a small pilot catches most of it cheaply
