About BS 5930
BS 5930 sets out standardised methods for planning ground investigations, describing soils and rock, logging boreholes and trial pits, and reporting ground conditions in the UK. Geotechnical and civil engineers use it as the common reference so that site investigation data collected by different firms at different times remains consistent and interpretable. It underpins foundation design, slope stability assessment and site risk evaluation on virtually every UK construction project.
