Connection is the start. Signal routing decisions also determine gain staging at each stage, latency accumulation in digital systems, ground loop potential in analogue systems, and how the signal behaves when a single connection fails. Practitioners who treat routing as patching build systems that work until they need to change or troubleshoot them under pressure.
