Why it matters
If Acoustic Engineers stop working for 4 hours on a major construction project: the building specification cannot be signed off, the architect cannot finalise the design, the contractor cannot pour the concrete, and the client faces a costly delay.
Every time you sit in a cinema and the sound wraps around you perfectly, or stand in a cathedral and hear the echo dissolve into music, an Acoustic Engineer made that happen. You never notice good acoustic design — only bad.
