Conducting pre-design noise surveys and acoustic feasibility assessments
Acoustic Consultants work at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and building science. They are brought in at the design stage of new buildings to predict acoustic performance, specify treatments, and ensure spaces comply with standards — then return after construction to verify the result. The work spans everything from recording studios to schools, hospitals to high-rise residential blocks.
- Conducting pre-design noise surveys and acoustic feasibility assessments
- Modelling room acoustic performance using ODEON or EASE simulation software
- Writing acoustic design reports and specifications for architects and engineers
- Carrying out post-construction field measurements to ISO 16283 and BS 8233
- Attending design team meetings to advise on acoustic implications of design decisions
