Procore

Cloud-based construction project management for drawings, quality, and cost control.

What it is

About Procore

Procore is the most widely adopted cloud-based construction management platform globally, used by owners, general contractors, and subcontractors to manage drawings, documents, RFIs, submittals, punch lists, and cost. On a Procore-managed project, all drawing revisions are stored and distributed through the platform — site teams access the current drawing on their phone or tablet, eliminating the paper-revision problem that has caused costly rework on construction sites for decades. The platform tracks which drawing version each party has accessed and when. For project managers, Procore provides real-time visibility into cost committed vs. cost forecast, change order status, and schedule milestones. The quality module allows site supervisors to create and close out punch list items with photos linked directly to a drawing location. Because Procore is so widely adopted, many UK main contractors now require that their subcontractors use it — making platform familiarity increasingly a baseline expectation rather than a differentiator.

What you can do with it

Capabilities

1

Upload a drawing set and issue it to the project team with read receipts and revision tracking.

2

Raise an RFI from site, assign it to the design team, and track it through to a formal written response.

3

Create a punch list item from a site inspection, attach a photo, and assign it to the responsible subcontractor with a due date.

4

Build a budget line-by-line and track committed costs against each code as purchase orders and invoices are processed.

5

Generate a drawing register showing the current revision of every drawing and its distribution status across the project.

How to learn it

Learning Resources

Procore Learning (app.procore.com/learning) — free role-based certification tracks for project managers, foremen, and subcontractors

Procore YouTube channel — extensive free walkthroughs of each module

Procore Community (community.procore.com) — peer answers to implementation and workflow questions

On-the-job: most Procore adoption happens through main contractor-led onboarding when a new project starts

Pro Tip

Set up a permission template on day one — Procore's permission system is granular, and subcontractors who can accidentally see confidential cost information is a far more common problem than access being too restrictive.
