Coda

A doc that can behave like a spreadsheet, a database and a mini app

What it is

About Coda

Coda lets teams build living documents that combine free-form writing with tables, formulas, buttons and automations, effectively letting a single doc replace a mix of wiki, spreadsheet and lightweight app. It targets the same team-workspace and knowledge-management use case as Notion and Confluence, differentiating itself with a more powerful formula language and pack/integration ecosystem. Coda has increasingly leaned into AI features (Coda AI) for summarising and drafting content within docs.

What you can do with it

Capabilities

1

Build documents with embedded tables, formulas and interactive buttons

2

Automate workflows with triggers and actions inside a doc

3

Connect external data sources and tools via Coda Packs

4

Create lightweight internal tools without writing code

5

Collaborate on shared team knowledge bases and trackers

How to learn it

Learning Resources

Review Coda's official Coda University tutorials and template gallery

Watch Coda's YouTube channel walkthroughs

Explore Coda Community forum for formula and Pack examples

Rebuild a simple tracker (e.g. a project or content calendar) from a Coda template to learn the formula language

Pro Tip

Coda's formula language is more powerful but steeper than Notion's — start from a template close to what you need and reverse-engineer its formulas rather than building from a blank doc.
